We not only carry the wariness with us, we even transfer some of it to our daughters. So many times, I have stopped myself from expressing my fears when my daughter goes out.
I really don't want her to go out with a metaphorical sword dangling over her all the time, but that's how it feels to me.
Loved the newsletter as usual. Just a small clarification: is the spelling Coddiwhomple or Coddiwomple? You have used both. Thanks again for a stimulating Sunday morning 🙏
Lovely, Amit. Beautiful how you drew the whole article out of the Calvino quote. As you say, we only appear to be living in the same universe. The reality is each of us inhabits our own personal universe. And aren’t we all coddiwhompling through it?
I always admire the fact that you read books with so much attention that quotes from the books gel into your articles so nicely. Its quite a skill. Is it the article's subject first, quote second, or does the book and/or the quotes inspire the article?
I saw it, and another great film by Keisuke Yoshida called Intolerance, during a Japanese film festival in Mumbai in early December. It wasn't publicized -- I just happened to see tickets for sale on Book My Show!

Indeed it is Coddiwomple. Corrected on the site. Thanks for spotting it and letting me know.

Where do you watch world cinema? Couldn't find Monster online.
